1) Why did you choose the name Quaker
Coffee?
Quaker Coffee was the natural name choice for two Philadelphia guys
who were friends since college and shared the same passion for great
coffee and fresh baked goods. Like William Penn,
a notable Quaker who founded Philadelphia, John and Craig hope to
reach the same sense of success by founding Quaker Coffee.
2) Are you Quakers?
No, but they love our coffee too.
3) Why does your logo have a boy with his hands
off the handlebars?
We wanted to capture the experience of having a cup of coffee in
the morning - that feeling that is both comforting and exhilarating
at the same time. One of our customers Sue R. upon seeing our logo
told us that she likes the idea of starting her day with the feeling
of a child who is daring enough and uninhibited enough to ride hands
free. That visceral and evocative emotion captures the essence of
what we want Quaker Coffee to reflect and stand for. That one little
indulgence to get your day started. It may be a touch philosophical,
but it is intended to be more emotional, uplifting and, at the same
time well grounded (pun intended)
4) Are you planning to expand Quaker Coffee?
We are looking for other convenient locations on the main line to
expand our business. We believe passionately that everyone should
be able to wake up with great cup of coffee and freshly-baked scone
and be able to get it quickly and conveniently. We are also looking
for investors who are interested in helping us grow - if you're
interested in investing, please contact us investors@quakercoffee.com.
5) What's the difference between a scone and soda
bread?
Chickens and cows! These two Irish specialties are closely related
but soda bread was originated by peasants who had less access to
perishable ingredients while scones were made by servants in upper-crust
households that could afford the eggs and cream needed to make scones.
7) Do you offer low-carb or low-fat products?
Yes! We have a number of low-carb and low-fat items including a
great low-carb pumpkin cranberry muffin and our famous low-fat "Morning
Glory" muffin (made with carrots, apples and raisins).
8) Are your coffees "Fair Trade?"
All of our espresso beans are certified Fair Trade, shade grown
and organic. Our "country of origin" coffees (e.g. Guatamalan,
Ethiopian, etc.) are not necessarily Fair Trade, but we are working
with our growers and roaster to provide fair wages to the local
farmers.
